Admissions
Welcome, Prospective Students and Families!
Thank you for your interest in joining the BUGS learning community.
BUGS is still accepting wait list applications for approximately 140 incoming 6th graders for the 2013-14 school year. As with all charter schools, BUGS is a tuition-free public school open to all NYC residents. To be eligible for admission, all students must complete and submit an application. Please read below for details and don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions at admissions@BUGSbrooklyn.org or (212) 437-8318.
If you have already submitted an application and did NOT received a confirmation email from admissions@BUGSbrooklyn.org, please call our office to confirm that we have received your student's application.
* Update as of April 4th * BUGS will notify everyone if they have been granted a seat for the Fall class of 2013-2014 or if they have been placed on the wait list.
* UPDATE as of April 18th * We had a successful lottery on April 11th and understand that some of you wanted to get the results as soon as possible. Official notices will be sent by email and/or mail within the next week, but you may call or email (admissions@BUGSbrooklyn.org , 212-437-8318) in advance if you would like to.
We have 150 seats available for the upcoming 6th grade class and we received 316 applications total. We do have a healthy waiting list, however, applicants on the waiting list should not be discouraged. Many families apply to multiple schools and can only attend one. Therefore, we expect seats will become available to students on the waiting list over the coming months. Applicants will be notified if spots open up throughout the Spring and Summer. Waiting lists do not carry over from year to year, so you must reapply every year in order to enter each new lottery.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to being in touch in the weeks ahead with official Admissions papers (or waiting list information), and news about upcoming fun and informative events. We hope to welcome you and your child(ren) to the BUGS community at this important and exciting juncture in their education!
